Who they are
Dakota Roofing & Claims is a small Sioux Falls general contractor built around two jobs at once — the roof, and the insurance claim that pays for it. There are two things they will tell you up front, and both of them are on this page.

The short version
Plenty of contractors quote you a number of years that quietly belongs to something else. Here is the actual sequence, in Dakota's own telling.
Early 1990s
Local first
Local to Sioux Falls since the early 1990s. Children, schools, PTA and Scouts. Community tenure, in their words, not roofing tenure.
The back-office years
ManageMyBackOffice.com
Before any license, they ran management, claims, production, inspections and sales as a back office for large roofing companies. They called the company ManageMyBackOffice.com, MMBO for short.
2013
Trial by fire
Started working with a large national roofing company and learned roofing and insurance claims from the ground up. Nobody taught them gently, and their own site says so.
2016
The test
After thousands of roofs and claim actions they took the Sioux Falls general contractor exam and became full general contractors. Tested, not grandfathered.
2017
On their own
After running the back office for two large companies, they went independent under their own license.
Today
One contractor, the whole envelope
This is Dakota's own capability list. It is longer than a roofing company's, and that is the entire point of 2016.

- Roofing (residential & commercial)
- Insurance claim advocacy
- Storm recovery management
- Damage assessment
- Gutters (K-style & commercial)
- Siding
- Windows
- Wood decking
- Painting
- HVAC
Woman- and veteran-owned
That is Dakota's own line, and it is the first thing worth knowing about the people who will be standing on your roof: a small business, owned by a woman and a veteran, and local to Sioux Falls since the early 1990s.
The ground behind this text is not stock. It is one of Dakota's own job-site photographs — plywood deck, nail plates, vent flashing, a roof stripped to bare wood mid tear-off. Their camera, their job.
By their own count
Dakota publishes these themselves. They are quoted here exactly as Dakota gives them — their count, not an audit, and not dressed up on the way through.
“1,000+ claims and $12M recovered in our first 18 months”
“95% success rate on supplements”
“More than 90% of claims are modified from the carrier's first scope”
“Carriers typically pay about 55% of the actual damage on the first check”
Licensed & insured
Dakota states they are licensed, bonded, and carrying $2M+ in general liability plus workers' compensation.
Carriers they say they have worked claims with
- State Farm
- Nationwide
- USAA
- Auto-Owners
- AAA
- Farm Bureau
- Farmers
Their own bar
Dakota publishes their own definition of the goal they hold themselves to. Six items, their list, condensed on the way in and not padded on the way out.
- 01Real people, happy they worked with you
- 02The storm claim managed end to end, not just a roof installed
- 03No out-of-pocket surprises
- 04The whole roof off, metals included, and every component replaced new. No shortcuts
- 05Easy for the owner, even when the insurance process is painful
- 06The property left cleaner than before the job started
“Its a full 12 to 16 hour day working for our customers getting it right, over and over again.”
Why there is no score on this site
Their own words: the number-one badges on listing services are paid placements, not independent evaluations. Do not settle for website badging gimmicks. This site takes them at their word, which is why you will find six named customers here and no invented score.
Straight about the hours
Dakota keeps normal hours — weekdays, nine to five, closed Saturday and Sunday. That is printed here rather than buried, because a storm has never once checked. Hail lands at seven on a Tuesday evening and every roofer in town goes to voicemail at the same moment.
So the assistant sitting in the corner of this page does not keep those hours. Ask it anything, any hour, and leave your details — Dakota picks it up when the office opens.
